Very easy recipe that our guests all loved! I really appreciate that this recipe has fewer eggs and less sugar than similar recipes. I prepped it 2 hours ahead. Added chopped apple and doubled cinnamon. Will definitely put this in rotation for brunch. Thank you!

Made this with homemade brioche for Valentine's Day breakfast and served it with homemade whipped cream and sliced strawberries. It was a show-stopper. So delicious and so many compliments. I'll definitely be making this again.

The key to getting the slices to not stick together is to use good bread and layer the slices as described in the recipe. It's awful that people decline to follow the actual recipe and instructions and then complain about their dish not turning out.

Made as written except I had to substitute the challah as its not readily available in my country. Don't know if that made a difference but once baked the slices become firmly stuck & it wasn't possible to separate them. I had to slice it up and thd french toast experience was lost. Sadly I realised this as I was about to serve it up at a family brunch sigh.

i tried this yesterday for Thanksgiving breakfast. Followed all the instructions. I couldn’t get the bread apart, it had cooked into one giant loaf.
This recipe is excellent, my expectations were not very high because it is soooo easy. The right amount of flavor and sweetness. I used a loaf of homemade Italian bread I had left over, good quality bread is important. Did not add the almonds or fruit as we didn't have any, and it was delish as is.

Hi, so glad you enjoyed it!! With this method, the bread does stick together. For separate slices, I'd make this stovetop French toast recipe instead.
