In reply to Mishmish. Did your brine start bubbling at all when you heated it? I'm wondering if it was hotter than ours usually is, which may have softened the radishes. We typically heat, stirring, until the sugar and salt dissolve without it simmering or boiling at all.

In reply to Mishmish. Hi Mishmish, yes, pickled radishes do have a bit of a funky smell! They shouldn't be soft though. Just so I can help troubleshoot, did you change anything about the recipe?

Made these for the first time. I’m really disappointed. They’re soft and to be honest, the smell is really off putting.

Question – mine smell like death, literally. So much so that my husband has requested I never make them again, ever. Is this normal? Do they always smell so bad?
