I wanted to prepare a Mezze platter for out of town friends and came upon your ideas and recipes. Note that I’ve made several of your delicious recipes before so I was confident with the Mezze recipes…oh my!! This Muhammara blew us all away…the complexity of the flavors were delightful and absolutely scrumptious! This is definitely a keeper. The only thing I did not have was the Aleppo pepper so I substituted with the red pepper flakes as you indicated. 20 out of 10!!

Add a little more olive oil, or if you use jarred peppers you could use a little of the juice from the jar. You could also reduce the bread crumbs

Absolutely fantastic!! Equal to or better than muhammara in the restaurants. I did reduce the cumin to 1/2 tsp just because I'm a bit sensitive to it. But added just enough so I could taste it w/o it being overwhelming

also - used a giant jar of roasted peppers from costco. Measured out 18 oz, dried thoroughly, and they worked beautifully

PS - roast your walnuts for a deeper walnutty flavor

My daughter is allergic to nuts, so I substitute pepitas (shelled pumpkin seeds) for the walnuts (1:1, same amount). I also add a teaspoon of sumac for a little extra lemon-y zing. I made it for a friend when we had a “nibble night”, because I’m not a fan of hummus, but wanted a non-dairy dip. She called it “addicting” and was amazed at how easy it is to make. Another fan!

Thank you for this. I am allergic to walnuts and I wish recipe people would give best other options when it comes to nuts. I am reading the comments in hopes of an answer. Thank you
I may try pistachios or another, doing research now.
