Whoops I forgot to add that I highly recommend doubling the recipe!! We rolled out 29 and with how tasty and crispy they were, they did not last after sharing!

Would love to say that my husband’s best friend is Mexican, and recently got engaged. I sent these to him and his fiance and he said they were just like when he was a kid, so ignore Rebecca’s comment because she apparently just doesn’t like almond extract. This is my go to recipe always!

I would caution everyone about using the almond extract. It makes the cookie taste completely different, and in no way then resembles the traditional Mexican cookie.

Had I left out the extract, it probably would have been delicious, but instead no one in my family wanted to eat it.
