I made this recipe for the very first time... Actually, it was my first time ever making chili! I used dried beans - 1 cup kidneybeans, 1 cup mixed medley (I double the recipe). Oh my goodness, it was SO good!! It was a smash hit and I I'll definitely make it again. One thing I did was saute the onions, etc on the stove to avoid stuff sticking to the bottom of the IP. Worked great!

You can just double all of the ingredients if you have a pot large enough.

Hi Jeff, we've tried cooking beans all sorts of ways and have found that when you add the salt hasn't made a huge difference in the final texture! I know that some people swear by adding it at the end though, so feel free to do that in this recipe if you prefer!

That is because this recipe tells you to add salt in the beginning. IMHO this is incorrect. I am given to understand that salt while beans are cooking will prevent the beans from softening. Next time leave out all salt at the beginning and add it at the end. I have no idea why this recipe suggests this.

Hi Tori, so sorry to hear that! Did you change anything else about the recipe? Or do quick release instead of natural release for the pressure?

Not sure what i did wrong. I didn't have kidney beans, so I subbed black beans which cook faster. I even soaked my beans for 2 hours in advance because I like soft smooth beans and bith the black beans and punti beans were still crunchy at the end.
