Since I changed my diet and have left behind sugar and the way it is hid in so many foods, I was looking for a natural peanut butter to replace what is called natural in the store. I was beginning to think that I would be stuck with the normal peanut butters until I found this site and read what is takes to make REAL natural peanut butter. WOW, this is great, and I just made my first batch. Your instructions were absolutely on target and I am saved from those other 'natural' so called peanut butters. Thank you sooooooooooooo much!

Peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches. This is a recipe my Mother served us for lunch many times and we loved it. It was eaten often during the Depression. I introduced it to my kids and they love it too.

I used one pound of peanuts in my cuisinart 11-cup food processor and it was the perfect amount to fill a pint mason jar. I added honey and sea salt at the end. I’ll never buy store bought peanut butter again!

In theory, you should be able to store it the same way you do the whole nut. Although I also acknowledge that a fluid has a higher susceptibility to bacteria/mold than a solid does.

But, if in a sealed container, it should keep on the shelf for a period of time. And if you are able to vacuum seal that container, that will extend the shelf life.

It works. I cheated though. We have a mill grinder. A heavy duty grinder built to create flour from hard seeds. I put the peanuts in the grinder first for about 30 seconds. That reduced the nuts enough that it didn't tax the food processor.

I finished it up in the processor AND I added a very small amount of extra virgin olive oil to increase the liquidity.

So, salted nuts from Sams & EVOO & our peanut butter is ready to go.

No, you cannot can peanut butter. A great resource for (safe) canning information is your Cooperative Extension office. Or you can check out
