Healthy after school snacks

Healthy After School Snacks /

Ok, so I don’t go to school nor do I have a child that goes to school… BUT I still have a healthy appetite for a good snack once 3pm rolls around. Here are some of my favorite heatlhy/healthier go-to treats… If you’re packing lunch boxes, some of these will work there too:

Healthy After School Snacks /

Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies
(these are made with coconut oil!)

Strawberry Avocado Toast
(use other fruits if you don’t have strawberries)

Maple Walnut Granola

Peanut Butter Crispy Treats
(a healthier no-marshmallow vegan version)

Rainbow Smoothies

Healthy After School Snacks /

Carrot Hummus
(not sure if your kid will eat collards, but the hummus recipe is tasty)

Almond-ella spread
(like nutella but not)

Chocolate PB&J Cups

Pistachio Cranberry Cookies
(a favorite from Amy Chaplin’s book)

Happy snacking!

I’ve been waiting for a flood of school appropriate recipes, but Internet disappointed me this year. When it comes to school snacks my imagination just doesn’t seem to work and I started to look for inspiration in my favourites blogs. Glad I found this round-up, thanks!

Thanks Emily! Hope you like the recipes!

  2. just love this recipe idea!!! and loving your photography of your food… you make it look like fun to great my three kids when they get home from school… 🙂

  3. I want to make all of these to take them with me to University and make everyone around me very jealous!

It looks really tasty and healthy. I don’t have any children too, but I’ll taste them all by myself! 😀 🙂

  5. It took a while for me to reprogram my mind to think of afternoon snacks as something other than “after school.” Old habits die hard!

      Ha yep, me too 🙂

I love your recipes. It would be helpful to have the nutritional information for those of us watching our waistlines.

  7. Not sure if I’ve posted a photo on Instagram, but I’ve been making your peanut butter crispy treats for a quite some time now. I crave ridiculously sweet things in the afternoon with my tea. They’re indulgent and healthy and very satisfying. Got me through the summer too when I would go rowing with my friends!

I’m so glad you’ve liked them! I’ve really been craving them lately 🙂
