This turned out so perfect with unbroken, non-mushy grains of black rice. I love it this way in Poke bowls! Thank you! In the past I was using too much water 2:1 which made the rice too soft although it may be alright for other uses. Nice thing about black rice is that it is lower glycemic than brown rice.

I've not made this yet, never cooked black rice before, got a bag from my mam and making some tomorrow, looking forward to it. I often use your cooking tips and recipes when searching for ways to create and enjoy food, and when I see love and lemons come up, I always click on it, because I know it will be great, you're becoming my go to place.

But I realised when reading your blog now that I have never thanked you for it, and this is important and respectful, so thank you :) and that is worth 5 stars in itself, before I even cook ...

In reply to <a href="https://www.loveandlemons.com/forbidden-black-rice/#comment-750527">Liz</a>.

Hi Liz, this recipe is more of a method for how to cook the rice. It's meant to be served with something - there are a bunch of suggestions up in the post. Depending what I'm serving it with, I usually season the dish, not the rice while it's cooking. But if you prefer it the other way around, that works too.
