9 Recipes To Make Before Summer Ends

Some of my favorite vegetarian recipes to use up summer produce - Summer Squash Vegetable Pizza, Peach Salads, Crumbles and more!

As a self-declared “summer person” August is always a little bittersweet for me. Five minutes ago it was May, and all of a sudden back-to-school supplies are on store shelves. Which shouldn’t matter to me – it’s been years since I’ve been in school – but the thought of notebooks and number two pencils still sends a little chill up my spine. No matter how old I am, I’ll never be quite ready to let the summer go. Today’s recipes use all of my favorite late summer produce – zucchini, summer squashes, peppers, corn, eggplant, and (the one I’ll be most sad…

Two days in Copenhagen

Ever since watching those chef-y TV shows about Rene Redzepi, I’ve wanted to go to Copenhagen. Sadly, we didn’t get into Noma (we were #1400 on the waiting list when Jack entered us 5 months ago, ha!), but we had a blast eating our way through Copenhagen nonetheless. We had only 2 short days to take it all in, but I think we did pretty well. Thanks to all of you who gave us so many amazing recommendations on Instagram! Day 1: We checked into this Airbnb, had a conference call and took a nap (#werk). Later, we walked through Nørrebro…

A Picnic at Hamilton Pool

Jack and I took a day trip to Hamilton Pool, near Austin Texas. Check out our picnic perfect menu!

Since Jack and I first moved to Austin, we’ve loved exploring all of the local natural springs and watering holes. The heat here in the summertime is no joke and the best way to beat it is by getting around some water. A few weeks ago, we took the day off and spent a lovely afternoon hiking and picnicking at Hamilton Pool. For this post, we’re partnering with Bota Box to share our little local adventure. Hamilton Pool is SO beautiful. It’s a natural pool with a gorgeous 50-foot waterfall. It’s about a 40 minute drive outside of Austin – an easy half-day trip. There’s a quarter mile hike…

6 steps to prep for a healthy week

My strategy for easy & healthy make-ahead meals.

Here’s a little guide to how I like to plan for meals throughout the week. I don’t do a bunch of heavy weekend batch cooking, but I DO like to prep just a few basics that can be worked into versatile meals throughout the week. If I spend just a little time, I find that I can set myself up for a healthy week ahead. And because chopping vegetables in silence is no fun, I’m partnering with Audible to share a few of my favorite foodie “reads” that I like to listen to while I work. I love how easy their app…

Vegetarian 4th of July Recipes

Happy long weekend! I hope you all have some exciting 4th of July plans! And what I really mean by that is I hope you have more exciting plans than we do. We’re pretty jet lagged so we’ll probably be celebrating the red white and blue on the sofa with some Orange is the New Black. However, if I DO get up the energy to cook, I think this would be such a delicious veggie-forward summer menu: Pictured above: Baby Bella Veggie Kabobs Watermelon St. Germain Cocktails / Tomato Basil Peach Skewers Vegetarian Orzo Stuffed Peppers Chile Lime Grilled Corn on…

My Guide to the Rhone Valley, part II

Last week, I spent six days in the Rhone Valley(!) The trip was so packed that I decided to break this into two posts. If you missed part one, click here. If you’re planning a trip to the south of France, I hope you find these posts helpful! Day 4: After a lovely breakfast at Hotel de la Villeon, we headed to Maison Chapoutier which is a short walk from the hotel. This area, the northern part of the Rhone Valley, produces more complex wines that are less fruit-forward than the wines I tasted further south. Maison Chapoutier is a great place…

My Guide to the Rhone Valley – Part I

Last week, I spent a whirlwind 6 days in the Rhone Valley. I loved meeting many of the winemakers, hearing their stories, walking through the vineyards, and driving to the tops of (so many) peaks. There was so much to see in addition to the wine – olive trees, lavender, cherry trees, apricot trees, wild vegetables, and herbs growing everywhere. It’s a heavenly place to visit if you love fruit, vegetables, and wines as much as I do. All of the vineyards listed here are open daily for tasting. If you call in advance you can schedule a more personal tour…

hello from France!

The Rhone Valley, France

Hello from France! This past week, I’ve been in the Rhone Valley touring vineyards, tasting wine, taking in amazing views and of course eating great food. I’ll be back later this week with a new recipe, but for now here are some photos from my trip – of course, follow along on Instagram to see more! Au Revoir! Special thanks to Atout France & Air France for sending me & for my new friends at Inter Rhone for taking me around!

Favorite Places in Austin to Eat & Drink

I get so many emails asking about my favorite places to eat and drink in Austin. It used to be pretty easy to make a list for people from out-of-town, but in the past couple of years Austin has really become a top notch food city. The list of restaurants to hit is becoming endless, so today I’m narrowing it down to just a few of my favorites and when (and with whom) I would go. This post is in partnership with Square Cash – because their app is a super easy way to split the check between friends. Unlike other money exchanging…
