Hi Ivonne, great question! It sounds like you could have worked the coconut oil in a bit more to the crumble ingredients. I'd go until everything in the crumble looks moistened and it holds together when pinched. I hope this helps!

The taste is good but not sure what I missed. The crumble came out with a grainy texture very similar to a raw texture. The sugar did not melt in enough with the rest of ingredients so it feels like sugar . Akways love your recipes so where did I go wrong?

Love this easy crisp! Just picked some incredibly sweet and delicious blackberries. Want something to serve beyond a pile of berries, not too much fuss and this is it! Skipping the sugar on the berries and reducing the brown sugar by half, just to keep the sugar rush at bay. That said, doubling the recipe and using a 9x12 pan. Yummy!

Made this yesterday with a few minor changes - melted butter instead of coconut oil, hazelnuts instead of walnuts, doubled the lemon juice/zest - and it was excellent! A great way to use some of the tons of blackberries my yard produces every year, will definitely make again.

Is there a substitute for the oats? Blackberries are my absolute favorite (as are almonds) and I have quite a lot and would love to make this but am just not crazy about the oats. Thank you in advance. I am so very glad that I found your website. You have such inventive ideas!

Hi Carolyn, you could make the topping from this other recipe - no nuts!: https://www.loveandlemons.com/peach-cobbler/#wprm-recipe-container-43054
