Took a long time to make this and it came out like applesauce. Looks like other people have the same problem. I think there’s too much water in this recipe. The consistency was wrong, as was the flavor. Bummer!

This was my first time making apple butter or any kind of jam like thing. It was delicious! And very fast. I used lots of spices. Hope you can post some other similar recipes!

I’ve also used apple cider or apple juice to replace some of the water if I don’t want to use brown or white sugar. It intensifies the apple flavor and sweetens it. You can also use sweeter varieties of apple!
I personally prefer this recipe as is, although I use Granny Smith apples.

Hi Pri, you could use a little maple syrup or skip the sugar – the apple butter won’t be quite the same, but we don’t use any sugar in our regular applesauce recipe, and it’s still great!
